Teamwork ActivityWith aims to provide rest and recreation, to forge more consolidated unity and to inject fresh vigour to the Volunteers, who have all along been taking part in emergency-period response and post-cyclone rehabilitation activities continuously without letup since the inception of NCV, they performed the “Teamwork Activity” in Ayeyar Village at the southern tip of Bogale Township during the Water Festival days in April, 2009.

In commemoration of the First Anniversary since the birth of the Noble Compassionate Vo-lunteers Group, NCV held a ceremony in the Bogale office compound on May 5, 2009. At the ceremony, the responsible persons recounted activities carried out within the one year, displayed documentary photos and staged happy celebrations.

On completion of the construction of ponds in Bogale, Mawlamyainggyun and Labutta Townships in Nargis-hit Ayeyarwady Division, NCV and UNICEF jointly held a ceremony at Myanmar Info Tech (MIT) in Yangon on December 18 and 19, 2009, and reviewed tasks car-ried out within the one and a half years. Personalities present on the occasion included Mi-nister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Maung Maung Swe (retired Major-General), officials of government departments, persons of UN agencies and INGOs, parents of the Volunteers and chairmen of Village Peace and Development Councils.

NCV has opened Child Vision Centres (CVCs) in six villages in Thabaung, Thabyu Kone and Paiksala village-tracts in Bogale Township. With a view to boosting the morale of children, creating amity among them and sharing knowledge, NCV held a Friendly, Happy Children program in the Bogale Office compound in February 2010.

Pond Inauguration Ceremony
Completion of ponds in Labutta Township, Ayeyarwady Division, constructed jointly with UN-ICEF in 2009, were marked with ceremonies at Mwe Hauk, Swe Sone, Leik Thit and Kyu Daw villages on February 25 and 26, 2010. The Commander of the Regional Tactical Opera-tions Command, Chairman of the District PDC, diplomats from the Embassy of Japan and officials of UNICEF honoured the ceremonies.
Jar Distribution
NCV distributed 60,000 glazed earthen jars to 326 villages in Mawlamyainggyun and Labutta Townships in 2009.
Dry Zone Assessment
NCV made a Dry Zone assessment, in cooperation with its partners, in 20 villages under 15 village-tracts in five townships in Magwe Division, which falls in the arid zone in Central Myanmar, from April 23 to 30, 2010, to find out resources for drinking water and agricultural water.

Activities have been launched to dig ponds, in cooperation with UNICEF, at 40 villages in southern Labutta Township and to distribute earthen jars to villages in southern Pyapon Township in Ayeyarwady Division in 2010.

A mission from NCV left for Haiti on its 2nd Anniversary on May 5, 2010, to help support the earthquake victims. The mission will start its first program “Food for Work” with the distribu-tion of 1,000 sacks of rice (50 MT), on which “the national flag” is printed.
